In making our Zabuton Mats, we combine fine hand-woven textiles with sturdy cotton fabrics to give them greater strength and stability. To best preserve this combination of fabrics, we recommend that you always dry clean your meditation cushions covers and as necessary. The inner cushions cannot be cleaned but can be refreshed by lying them in the sun.  

Removing Small Stains - To work out small stains, remove the cover and dab gently with warm water. Never rub the silk textiles.

For our custom water resistant indoor/outdoor synthetic fabrics, the covers can be machine washed (never dry clean) in warm or cold water and hung to dry. 

To clean your buckwheat zafu, the first step is emptying it. Always turn your buckwheat zafu on its side with the handle facing upward before you open the zipper. Remember that buckwheat hulls are loose inside your zafu. We recommend pouring them into a clean bucket or large container. It is best to do this outside or in a well-ventilated space with a mask to avoid inhaling dust from the hulls. Turn the cover inside out before cleaning. The cover can be dry cleaned or washed by hand in cold water and tumbled dry on low heat. 

Always dry clean the Silk Top zafus. The buckwheat hulls can be poured back using a wide mouth funnel.

To wash your Runa posture cushion pull out the two inner cushions. If you find it difficult to pull the inner cushions in or out (it takes a bit of finessing the first time you do it) just empty out some buckwheat hulls first and then refill them later with a wide-mouth funnel. Inner cushions can also be washed by emptying the buckwheat hulls and refilling them later. The cover can be dry cleaned or hand-washed in cold water and hung dry or tumbled dry on low heat. When you put the inner cushions back inside the cover, just make sure they fit in and zip up.  You can flatten them with your hands or by sitting on it.

To wash your  Triangle Knee Props open the cover and remove the inner cushions (or pour out the buckwheat hulls for 4" and 6" Triangles). Tall Buckwheat Triangles must be emptied first in order to get the cover off. Inner cushions can also be washed by emptying the buckwheat hulls and refilling them later. Silk Triangle Cushions with a strap  - Can be cleaned with a roller or packing tape or Steamer. To work out small stains, dab gently with water. Never rub the silk textiles.

The Dolma Traveller and the Dolma Studio can be cleaned easily with a vacuum extension (crevice attachment tool works best), a lint brush or packing tape or steamer. To remove stains, dab with a damp cloth and water. For additional protection and travel ease, we have made fitted water-resistant cases for these cushions

Your Bolster can be cleaned with a vacuum extension (crevice attachment tool works best), a lint brush or packing tape or steamer. The cover can also be removed and washed by hand in cold water and hung to dry. To remove and replace the cover, bend the top of the inner cushion forward (so there is a large bend inward at the middle) and ease the cover off at the top and bottom. It requires some patience, so go slowly. For the oblong back bolster you can bend it in the middle and remove the lower corners and then upper corners one at a time. You can restuff the cushion in the same way by bending it in the middle and easing it into the corners. Small stains can be removed by dabbing with a damp cloth and water.

The Urban B (Cotton Bolster/Brick) can be cleaned easily with a vacuum extension (crevice attachment tool works best), a lint brush or packing tape or steamer. To remove stains, dab with a damp cloth and water right away. Water-resistant covers and dust covers for these cushions are available by custom order.

Our benches are made with a brushed silk-cotton corduroy. It can be cleaned with a vacuum extension (crevice attachment tool works best), a lint brush or packing tape or steamer. To remove stains, dab with a damp cloth and water right away.

Our cases are made with Cordera - a water resistant synthetic fabric- and handwoven silk. To remove stains wipe the cordera with a damp cloth. It is a strong fabric. If something is spilled on the silk, it is best to run it under cold water thoroughly(soak the silk)and then let it air dry. Never wash the case in the washing machine. You can dampen the silk with water but never rub the silk.
