How to Choose  - by Height

Meditation cushions come in different heights and are designed to help you sit straight comfortably when you meditate.  When you choose a cushion it is important to consider your height, leg length, flexibility and any injuries.

How to choose a ZAFU sit cushion - by height & flexibility
Tall Mountain Zafu:  good for taller (6' plus) people and for anyone who wants to get more height so the hips can open more easily.
Medium Mountain Zafu:  our most popular cushion for people of any height with medium flexibility
Small Mountain Zafu:  for flexible people  of any height and smaller people
Mini Mountain Zafu:  for super duper flexible people.
Burmese or Lotus Meditation posture - legs crossed or folded
If you prefer to sit in Burmese or Lotus posture when you meditate, then it depends on your flexibility and also the length of your torso and arms.  So if your legs are long, the tall Zafu is probably your best choice, unless you are really flexible.
Very flexible Medium flexible Less flexible
Very flexible I would recommend small (7”) Mountain Zafu or medium (8”) Mountain Zafu
Medium flexible - I would recommend a medium or tall Mountain Zafu
Less flexible - I would recommend a tall Mountain Zafu and knee cushions or suggest trying the tall zafu in the Seiza posture.

Seiza Meditation Posture
The most popular meditation posture for taller people is the seiza kneeling posture with the tall Mountain Zafu.  You can turn the zafu cushion on its side and it lifts your seat high so your hips can open easily and your spine straighten naturally.

How to Choose a Zabuton - By Height

If you sit seiza, and your legs are really long then I would recommend that you also get a regualr-sized (31 x 31 x 3) Zabuton mat, especially if you have a long torso.
If you sit Burmese/Lotus/cross-legged, I would recommend ordering a custom cushion from us 34” x 30” x 3”, which would cost and extra $30.00 CAD.
